We’ve had a hefty dollop of cyberpunk already this year with titles like Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall, but Satellite Reign promises a slightly different take on the familiar blend of dingy streets, neon lights and faceless megacorps.
Coming to Steam Early Access this December, in essence it’s a “spiritual successor” to classic strategy game Syndicate Wars in which you control a team of four agents out to conquer and control a futuristic city. By any means necessary.
Largely by shooting people, but also by hacking into computers, using your espionage and infiltration skills, or even by launching a propaganda war against you enemies. Lots of fun ways to cause chaos, and as you can see from the trailer above, it’s got that cyberpunk look nailed pretty well.
Kickstarted last year to the tune of over $450,000, Satellite Reign is being made by a team of former Syndicate developers, included Mike Diskett, creative lead on the ever-popular third entry, Syndicate Wars. For more on the game check out the official website.
