Alien: Isolation developer The Creative Assembly has released a trailer revealing Survivor Mode, in which the player must complete a set list of challenges while being pursued by the Alien.
The development team says the idea came about when they were playing through the core game, and noticed the various different ways in which players tackled problems.
Eventually the team started issuing challenges to each other, as artist John McKellan explains: ”Could you get through (the level) Hospital without using you motion tracker, could you get through Engineering without using your gun. And we had a lot of fun. It was really interesting and really exciting, and we though that this was something we shouldn’t keep to ourselves - that was where the idea of a challenge mode came up.”
Survivor Mode tracks your progress and doles out points for fulfilling various goals. Your final score, if you don’t get your face bitten off, is uploaded to a global leaderboard. Publisher Sega is promising extra DLC content for this mode post-launch.
Alien: Isolation is out this October 7 for PC and consoles.
