It’s fair to say that Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson wasn’t a big fan of the news that the Oculus Rift had been bought up by Facebook. In fact he was so annoyed he cancelled a deal to adapt Minecraft for the VR headset.
Seems he’s mellowed out somewhat in the last few months, as he’s ”officially over being upset” about the Facebook deal, and is now ”upset about there being a hole in my favorite sock instead”. That is annoying, to be fair.
And about now I'm officially over being upset about Facebook buying Oculus. I'm upset about there being a hole in my favorite sock instead.

Following the tweet above Persson also suggested that adding Oculus support was now ”down to the design team”. Oculus chief tech officer John Carmack was quick to jump in, telling Persson ”say the word, ship the source, and i’ll make sure It runs well on you-know-what…”
There are mods out there that offer unofficial Minecraft support on Oculus hardware, but an official version would undoubtedly be a big seller for Oculus. We’ll keep an eye out for any further developments.
