It’s time to fire up those ore smelters and stamp some bars as resource management is introduced, and player deaths mean a trip to the medical room or nearest Rescue Ship.
Until now Space Engineers had only Creative mode where everything was in abundance with little thought for power levels or getting snuffed in the void. Now reality sets in.
The indie studio wants to take a realistic approach to handling resources etc. with inventory capacities and processing speeds, but these can be tweaked by global settings. Uranium levels in reactors and space suit energy become another responsibility to juggle. New scenarios are introduced with Survival mode.
Multiplayer, while having been present for the past two months already, is ”undergoing constant development. There are still features yet to be added: better admin settings, dedicated servers and overall optimizations of lag and synchronization issues.” As Survival mode is now in, the price of Space Engineers has increased to $19.99 / €18.99 / £14.99.
