Blizzard Entertainment has released a blog post revealing a new area that will appear in its upcoming World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion.
The Tanaan jungle will be the location of your first few steps on Draenor, a dangerous wilderness where ”even the plants have teeth.”
Bad guys the Iron Horde have staged their assault on Azeroth from within Tanaan, so you’ll have to venture into its depths alongside historical figures from the Warcraft lore to root them out; figures such as Gul’dan, Thrall, Khadgar, and Vindicator Maraad. I don’t know what any of that means, but if you’re a WOW player I’m sure you do.
Here’s how Blizzard describe the new zone. It sounds charming:
“In primordial Tanaan, even the plants have teeth. Darkling fronds stab out at unlucky wanderers, or conceal canyons that plunge miles deep beneath the canopy – and these are far from the jungle’s worst dangers. Each day, warlords fell even wider stretches of Tanaan’s wilderness, striving to finally rend the gates of space and time for conquest unending.”
It sounds like a lot of time will be spent traversing the depths of Tanaan jungle; ”Your initial time in Tanaan Jungle will have an impact on your journey further into Draenor,” the developers write, ”and your first foray into its depths will be the jumpstart to your many adventures to come. While your time surviving the travails of this first adventure will be fast and a bit furious, never fear, this won’t be the last you’ll see of this terribly savage place.”
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is planned for release in Fall of this year.
