You know all those Collector’s Edition soundtracks you’ve got hidden away in your Steam library that you never, ever play?
Well Valve has just introduced the Steam Music Player, which not only lets you listen to those downloaded soundtracks while you play, but also lets you add songs from your personal music library.
You can point Steam to where your mp3 files are stored, and it will add them to the Music Player library. You can then control playback, queue up mixes, and create playlists all through the Steam user overlay. Quite neat, no? Next time you log in you’ll not a new Music section in your library. Head there to check out the full list of soundtracks you currently own.
To celebrate the Steam Music Player’s release, Valve is offering the soundtracks of all of its games for free, providing you own the titles in question. There’s a thorough list of all the available soundtracks on Steam here.
