Fancy building your own action RPG tale in D&D style? Dungeonforge from developer The Collective Dream Studios aims to equip us with the tools to weave our own sadistic quests and dungeons.
Everything happens in an open world with an in-game editor - the Dungeonforge - letting us make our own adventures which are then shared in the overarching world.
Quests can be scripted or you can perform a ‘Live Telling’ where you ”actively take the role of dungeon master, playing the part of NPCs” and throwing baddies at heroes.
There’s a player vs DM game type as well where players must overcome the challenges thrown at them by the Dungeon master, whose sole aim is to stop them succeeding. There’s branching dialog, deep foreboding dungeons, UI friendly quest scripting, and the ability to construct large outdoor areas too.
”Dungeonforge is an Action-RPG in the spirit of classic D&D where you, as dungeon master, drive and shape the gameworld and everyone has a chance to weave their unique part of gaming lore,” blurbs the Kickstarter. It was recently greenlit on Steam and is now 3 days into its crowd-funding campaign.
The developer is asking for $60,000 in funds on Kickstarter and has about $4,600 so far with 27 days left.
