Crash Entertainment has licensed Blockbuster from Dish for use in ”retail and by mail DVD distribution operations,” and 5 existing Crash stores are to be re-branded.
Current Crash Entertainment stores don’t sell games but they may well find themselves stocked on shelves as new and re-branded outlets get put into effect.
”This is good news for Blockbuster customers in the UK, as consumer demand is clearly moving to digital distribution of video entertainment,” said Dish president and CEO Joseph Clayton.
”Despite our closing of the physical distribution elements of the business, we continue to see value in the Blockbuster brand, and we expect to leverage that brand as we continue to expand our digital offerings.”
An additional deal is also in the works for a video-on-demand service through Virgin Media TIVO boxes. All UK Blockbuster stores finally closed in December as it entered its second period of administration within a year.
