The latest World of Warcraft developer blog tracing the development history of their raid design. Coming up to ten years since the original incarnation of the MMORPG was released, there’s been quite a few changes.
Kicking off at the very beginning, in 2004 to 2006 there were only two raids, Onyxia’s Lair and the 10-boss Molten Core, and groups were required to have 40 players. From there expansion The Burning Crusade took that requirement down to 25, and Wrath of the Lich King offered 10-man raids.
The blog post is the first in a three part series studying the evolution of Blizzard’s raids design, explaining the process leading up to the latest changes in forthcoming expansion Warlords of Draenor.
