It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything regarding Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, the sequel to everyone’s favourite slightly clunky open-world strategy/combat game. Luckily developer TaleWorlds has popped up with a new developer video.
It’s a nice, relaxing look at some very lovely-looking environments. Just take a look at those snow-capped mountains that look like something straight out of a Lord of the Rings movie.
The jump from the charmingly lo-fi Mount and Blade to this lush, medieval world is quite remarkable. You’ll be able to mess around with the powerful new engine too, creating some unique environments of your own to conquer. Just thinking about what more patient people than me will be able to come up with is tantalising - Game of Thrones mod, anyone?
Though it’s set in the same universe as the original, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord seems to be adding a bit more character to the game world’s factions, according to a previous developer update. ”Many players felt Mount&Blade would be more immersive if the factions had more background and the game had an emotionally grabbing narrative hook,” writes TaleWorlds, ”so we’re going to try do that while still keeping the sandbox spirit.”
The game’s looking rather tasty, though it’s very early days so far, with no potential release date mentioned.
