Treyarch is heading back to the near-future in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, a brave new world where seemingly everybody can bolt some kind of weapon of mass destruction on to their body.
This new story trailer lays out the basics of the main campaign. You’d never guess this, but it features a bunch of gruff men going on about war, betrayal, honour, war and some more betrayal.
Snark aside, somehow this actually managed to pique my interest. Treyarch’s past campaigns, particularly the Black Ops sub-series, have been fairly strong, and there’s a dose of strange, cyberspace hallucinations that are kind of intriguing. I’m a bit burned out on futuristic exosuits, but it all looks entertaining enough. Here’s the synopsis:
”Black Ops III engrosses players in a dark and gritty future, where a new breed of Black Ops soldier has emerged, and the lines between humanity and military technology have been blurred. You must navigate the hot spots of a new Cold War to find your missing brothers. While much has changed, one thing remains the same: everything you know may be wrong. How far down the rabbit hole are you willing to go to uncover the disturbing truth?”
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is out this November 6.
