Bandai Namco announced earlier this month that hit JRPG Tales of Zestiria will be coming to the PC in October, and if you’re a fan of the long-running Tales franchise the publisher has some more good news for you.
An HD remake of 2004’s Tales of Symphonia is also planned for 2016. The game, the fifth entry in the series, was initially released on the Gamecube, and it’s never been available on the PC before.
”As we announced during our Level-Up event, 2015 is full of surprise for Tales Of fans. Bringing Tales of Zestiria to PlayStation 4 and PC was our first step towards the celebration of the 20th Anniversary, bringing Tales of Symphonia HD, an all-time favourite, to PC is now the second step!” explains Herve Hoerdt of Bandai Namco. ”We are working hard to bring more exciting content for Tales Of lovers in Western countries, and we hope that our efforts are appreciated!”
The Tales series is a little like Final Fantasy, in that each separate entry is set in a new world not necessarily related to the others. Tales of Symphonia itself is set in a fictional world called Sylvarant, and follows the adventures of ‘Chosen One’ Lloyd Irving. Which is such an unlikely name for an RPG hero that I burst out laughing when I first read it.
There’s no release date for Tales of Symphonia yet, but the game is up on Steam if you want to see what it looks like.
