Positech Games has announced a new standalone African expansion to the political simulator Democracy 3, which will be released in early 2016. Players will deal with the unique political landscape of the diverse continent.
Democracy 3: Africa will allow gamers to experience what it’s like to govern such democracies as Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Senegal, Tunisia, Botswana and Mauritius. Each country has its own unique challenge and population.
”Africa has been unrepresented as a setting for videogames,” noted studio boss Cliff Harris, who added that when Africa was represented in videogames, it was and is often depicted in clichés, and not as modern countries and cities who have to find solutions to problems like malnutrition, poor literacy and access to clean water.
”Democracy 3: Africa puts these topics front and centre and will challenge players to make tough decisions on issues that we normally only encounter in news reports,” Harris added, ”So, even if you have successfully led a government in Democracy 3, this new title will make you rethink your priorities and policies.”
Democracy 3: Africa builds on the original game, but it will feature completely new art and music, as well as new options for players as regional dilemmas and events have to be handled by them as they pop up. While it’s being developed by Positech, it’s being designed by Jeff Sheen from Stargazy Studios.
The game will be available from most digital distributors in early 2016.
