UIG Entertainment has announced that Crafty Games will be remaking the second chapter of the Realms of Arkania series, Star Trail. The developer had produced a remake of the first chapter in the series, Blade of Destiny, back in 2013.
The game’s producer, Bernhard Kasch, promises the developer will be ”focusing on the perfect balance between new and old” and will maintain the ”uniqueness” of the The Dark Eye, a German pen-and-paper RPG, while trying to ”bring the game to the 21st century.”
Hopefully, this remake will fair better than Blade of Destiny’s. In GameWatcher’s scathing 2.0/10 scored review, players were warned it was ”Unplayable. Broken. Ugly,” and that not only was the gameplay buggy, but ”translation seems to have been handed off to a man being paid by the sentence, and the budget came up short”, with random German phrases and words inexplicably peppered through the dialog and narrative.
The original Star Trail was released back in 1994 and was developed by Attic Entertainment Software. No screenshots have been released for the upcoming game yet, which is due to be released in late 2016.
