Atari has revealed the first gameplay footage of forthcoming, multiplayer-focused theme park sim RollerCoaster Tycoon World in a new trailer.
Developer Area 52 Games is taking the reins from Frontier this time around, but judging by the video they’re keeping the same colourful sense of fun than ran through previous entries in the series.
And there’s a little shot of a rollercoaster breaking and sending some hapless tourists spinning to their doom, which suggests Area 52 understands the real point of the game – forging elaborate death machines. Graphics don’t look particularly astounding, but they’re perfectly decent for the task at hand.
RollerCoaster Tycoon World players will choose one of four themes for their park; Americana, Wild West, Sci-Fi and Adventure, and can then take their creation online, visit other players’ parks, and collect and share rollercoaster blueprints. You can even team up with friends to co-operatively manage a single part. Don’t worry, by the way, this is all optional – unlike SimCity, the game doesn’t demand that you play online.
RollerCoaster Tycoon World is set for release ‘mid 2015’, according to Steam.
