Actor Donna Burke, who lends her voice to the iDroid, says fans shouldn’t ”throw away” five year’s work from the Kojima Productions team on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain all because Hideo Kojima ‘was fired’.
It’s been in the news for a while now that Konami and Hideo Kojima aren’t on the best terms, although there’s been no public acknowledgement of exactly what’s occurred.
The Japanese publisher had been removing all references to the Metal Gear series creator from all promotional work for anything he’d touched, but suddenly when people starting realising the changes Konami quickly backtracked and put his name back. It’s called damage control.

Donna Burke echoes what Japanese actor Akio Otsuka tweeted, the voice of Solid Snake in Japan, who also asked for fans not to ‘punish’ the development team because of the fiasco. Burke also sung the theme to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
Has Hideo Kojima been fired? Konami tell VideoGamer.com that this is ”categorically incorrect”.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain releases on PC September 15th.
