Ubisoft might appear to have a pretty poor image amongst PC gamers after a number of disappointing ports, but according to its latest financial report the company still does solid business on the platform.
The PS4 leads the way with 27% of all revenue from Ubisoft games, but the PC managed to score 23%, an impressive increase on the 14% it managed last year.
So why is the company doing so well, despite so many high-profile mishaps? Probably because it has so many properties on the PC; the high-profile, multi-platform releases may not have gone down very well post-launch, but they sold decent numbers, and its publishing arm still has countless PC-focused properties like the Anno series, Might & Magic and so on.
The publisher has promised to do better with its PC ports, and looking at these numbers they’ve every reason to do so. No more excuses now, it’s clear that the PC is a platform Ubisoft needs to start taking more seriously.
