Co-op survival game The Red Solstice will be getting a whole single player campaign ”offering between 7 and 30 hours” of gameplay when the game launches on July 9, developer Ironward has announced.
It’s slightly surprising, because we’d previously thought the game would remain an 8-player co-operative game in which players charge around a huge map completing objectives and splatting aliens with assault rifles.
”Work on the singleplayer campaign is continuing at full speed with most of the essential systems already in place and mission design itself being revised and polished based on internal testers feedback,” the team writes. ”In the upcoming weeks we expect that more of you who have supported us so far will get the opportunity run through at least parts of the singleplayer experience and help us make it even better with your insights and feedback.”
Ironward are also working on a new UI, and are adding three new components; the marksman neutralizer, hellfire guardian and marksman marauder component. They’re also working on tidying up bugs and adding some new game modes and map sectors.
The Red Solstice launches on July 9. It’s currently available for £14.99 on Steam.
