What the!? There’s a ”lush and vibrant world” coming our way from the Forgotten Realms. Fantasy RPG Sword Coast Legends has been announced and it’s bringing all its Dungeons & Dragons lore to assault our desktops.
It’s got a ”deep narrative” and is being handled by ”long-time industry veterans” and in partnership with Wizards of the Coast. One of those veterans happens to be Dan Tudge, director for Dragon Age: Origins.
Now Tudge is leading the entire project. There is the bit where I link to the Kickstarter campaign asking for about $2 million right? WRONG! This isn’t a pan-handling concept where a group of devs muse what they’d like to do if they get the cash. Sword Coast Legends is happening and it’s coming to PC this year.
Then, this is the bit where I say it’s a free-to-play MMO funded by micro-transactions for weapons, emotes and beard-dye kits? WRONG! It’s a single-player RPG where we choose from five playable races and six unique character classes with full tactical party-based combat.
Okay, but it’s episodic? WRONG! It’s a full single-player RPG, but we do get to go all D&D nerd by teaming up with up to 3 other players for multiplayer if we want to create and explore player-made dungeon adventures together. It also uses Steamworks.
