Capcom has announced that its remaking classic survivor horror sequel Resident Evil 2. I am currently performing the dance of joy, because skipping off school on a Friday to play Resi 2 all day was one of my formative gaming experiences.
The company hasn’t lifted the lid on exactly what fans can expect from the remake, but I would think it’s a safe bet that we’re looking a total overhaul in the style of the Resident Evil HD Remake. Or they could announce that it’s a pinball spin-off if they wanted literal riots on the streets.
”We’re pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development,” a Capcom representative said in a statement sent out to the press today. ”As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don’t have any additional information or assets to share at this time. However, for now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we’ve received on this title. We’re looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for.”
There’s no info on targeted platforms, but since the series is a prominent fixture on the PC at this point, I’d say it’s likely we’re looking at a cross-platform effort, across PS4, Xbox One and PC.
