This weekend marks the third anniversary of Crusader Kings II, and to celebrate Paradox Interactive is holding a 75% off sale on ‘collection’ bundles through the Paradox Store, as well as Steam and other digital stores.
Paradox also released an infographic that reveals how the game world has grown from its humble vanilla origins in February 2012 up to the Way of Life expansion in December 2014. Someone sure loves medieval drama.
While the average playtime of Crusader Kings II is 99 hours, with around 10,700 players scheming each month, someone has clocked an impressive 10,500 hours. That’s an awful lot of court room politics and heirs married off. The highest number of players in a month was 104,000.
Over 1.1 million units have sold since early 2012, with more than 2.5 million expansions bought.
”We continue to be overwhelmed by the popularity of Crusader Kings II,” says lead designer Henrik Fahraeus. “For many thousands of people, this is their first Paradox game, and people continue to tell us about the rise and fall of their dynasties and empires.”
”Our games at PDS have always been about stories, but Crusader Kings II gives you characters sometimes doing petty things on a grand stage. I think people like that.”
The Paradox Store is currently running 75% off Crusader Kings II if you opt for the Collection or DLC Collection bundles, otherwise each DLC individually is 50% off instead. Currently Steam only has 75% off the Collection, and no DLC discounts.
