King Art Games has pushed back the release date of fantasy sequel The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 ever so slightly, with the point-and-click adventure now set for February 20 rather than the original date of January 30.
A light-hearted romp through the colourful world of Aventásia, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 sees the return of adventurous foursome Wilbur, Ivo, Nate and Critter.
You can get a sense of the general tone via this extract from the plot synopsis; “A darkness has fallen upon the land, or rather, a pinkness. A magic force is turning mighty beasts into fluffy plush puppies and towering castles into oversized dollhouses. Every world needs its heroes. However unlikely they may seem.”
The first game spent most of its run-time taking the mickey out of various fantasy properties from The Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter, and the sequel shows no signs of ending this trend. The developers promise over 20 hours of adventuring, with optional side quests and hundreds of “weird, yet oddly logical” puzzles.
The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 was Kickstarted last year, which allowed King Art to chuck in a few extra features that otherwise wouldn’t have been included, such as extra outfits, those aforementioned optional quests, and several making of videos. It then hit Early Access, where you can still pick up the game for slightly cheaper than it will be upon release next month.
