King Leoric, perhaps better known amongst Diablo 3 players as the Skeleton King, is the next character to be confirmed for Blizzard’s MOBA Heroes of the Storm.
You might remember Leoric as the boss of Diablo 3’s first zone, where he attempted to fend off players by alternately hitting them with a mace and flinging smaller skeletons at them. Blizzard has introduced the happy chap in a new spotlight video, which reveals the role Leoric plays in combat.
Basically, he’s a front-line brawler who favours a blend of “damage, control, and mobility”. Maybe not quite as tanky as the best of them, but slightly more versatile and able to hand out some mean damage. He’s also quite survivable; when he dies, Leoric can rise as a controllable wraith, and can continue to whack away with his magical mace. He can also drain his opponent’s health.
In short, I imagine good old King Leoric will be quite the annoying git to come up against. He’ll turn up in Heroes of the Storm during the Eternal Conflict event, along with fellow Diablo boss The Butcher, and Johanna the Crusader.
