The dystopic sci-fi RPG The Mandate from studio Perihelion Interactive will be at Gamescom early next month, and the team will be giving demos of the game’s squad tactics and AI. It’s built using the Unity 5 engine.
Select press will also get to see the ship boarding combat unfold. The Mandate has us responsible for an entire ship and its crew as we make power-altering decisions rooted in the drama aboard our ship.
”…The Mandate is set in a dystopian “Tsars in space” future controlled by a galaxy-spanning empire. Players take on the role of a captain at the helm of an evolving, dynamic ship that a crew of hundreds call home. As captain, you’ll command a crew of officers selected and honed by you, taking them into epic space battles, ship boarding operations and galaxy exploration.”
It draws inspiration from series such as XCOM, Fallout, Mount & Blade, Sid Meier’s Pirates! and Star Trek Online, says the studio. It managed to secure pledges worth $700k during its Kickstarter campaign. It can be played solo or co-operatively between 6 players.
They’ve provided a sample of the game’s 130 minute long orchestral score via Soundcloud.

The Mandate releases on PC in early 2016. Gamescom runs August 5-9 in Cologne, Germany.
