I’m a big fan of the way Paradox mixes in free content updates with its paid DLC, but it’s a model that does sometimes make things a bit confusing. What exactly am I paying for, and what am I getting for free?
Fortunately, this time around the publisher has released a neat infographic that details all the content coming in a September 24 patch for Colossal Order’s Cities: Skylines, on the same date that expansion After Dark goes live.
For instance, you might think that the new day/night cycle would be an expansion feature, but actually all players will get access to it. Likewise, a reworked crime system which has police actually track down and capture criminals will also be added for free.
The free patch adds these systems, but After Dark fleshes them out with new night-time leisure options, new transportation options such as taxi services, and lots of other neat stuff.
