Paradox Interactive have announced their new gambit for global conquest in Hearts of Iron IV will be blitzkrieg’ing onto desktops in late Q2 of this year, admitting they were a ”tad optimistic” for Q1.
Today also sees the release of a new develop diary from Paradox Development Studio, and this time it’s on the grand strategy’s internal politics discussing ministers, laws, and national goals.
”Hearts of Iron IV is a very ambitious undertaking and we might have been a tad optimistic with the original Q1 2015 date that was communicated. Hearts of Iron IV is our most complex game with massive scale as well as a lot of systems and details you need to get right. Its a lot of work to make it as good as we want it to be,” said Project Lead Dan Lind.
As for the developer diary, we learn that National Goals are promises and missions we pledge to our people, which can help focus the AI better. We spend Political Power on those goals and it’s a new currency with Hearts of Iron IV, which we earn overtime and lets our leader exert influence.
We’ll also need to keep an eye on our ministers and the government itself, as each can be a boon or nuisance to the nation and us. There are also companies we can choose to favour in our regimes to help boost production. Both of these cost the new Political Power to change.
The new dev diary also touches on laws, a subset of ideas, and on elections and public support.
”With the new schedule, I’m happy and confident with where we are now with the game and with it being one of our core titles there is not really any risk of any other delays. After the last spurt of work we did before Christmas for example we have really seen all the pieces fall into place,” added Lind.
Paradox are live streaming a Q&A session tonight on their official Twitch channel @ 6.00pm CET, which you can watch below. Check out Developer Diary 12 - Internal Politics for more.
