Carbine Studios has announced that the Protostar Gala Winterfest Extravaganza has started in their irreverent MMO WIldstar. It will run from now through to 1 January 2016. The Gala will be taking place at Protostar’s SuperMall-in-the-Sky, which will feature deals on in-game goodies and serving up exclusive content for players, including costumes, daily quests, festive furniture, and public events.
One of the public events is the Snowtron Smash, which will award players a new vehicle, the Snowtron 3000. In order to get one, players have to toss snowballs at other people who already are riding around in a Snowtron to, well, steal them. Players will then have to avoid getting hit by snowballs themselves as other players will be trying to unseat them and take it for themselves.
The game’s Protostar Housing Initiative will reward customers for decorating their homes with Winterfest items. ”Meet certain Protostar-approved housing goals and earn even more holiday rewards,” states Carbine, adding ”Yes, it may be a corporate-created, profit-driven, consumerism-celebrating holiday designed to fill the coffers of the Protostar Corporation for another year, but it’s also a time for families, friends, acquaintances, and frenemies to trim the conical display shelves, tie festive sales ribbons on every lamp post, and share the joys of the season in the loudest and most gaudy ways possible.”
