Gamers who have had to deal with Valve’s customer support have been given another apology by the company. The apology comes from Erik Johnson, who promises that they will ”build a new support system” to satisfy customer demand.
In an interview, Johnson related,”The thing that’s interesting is, you go out to third-party support providers, and—at least in our experience—most of them wanted to sell you ways to reduce the number of people currently waiting in support, but they weren’t very good at selling you ways to solve customer support issues. I think we’ve all had that experience of, ‘I get it. You’re trying to get me off the line.’ We’re not super interested in providing crappy support in volume.”
Johnson also promises an option to provide refunds, and that customer service wait times will be at an ”acceptable point” by Christmas.
However, this isn’t the first time this year Johnson has apologized for bad customer service. Back in March, Johnson said in an interview that Valve didn’t ”feel like our customer service support is where it needs to be right now,” and promised even back then that it was ”doing a bunch of technical work on thinking through.”
