That’s right, there’s a nod to everybody’s favorite science-fiction time-skipping TV show in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, specifically in the perky futuristic version of the Nuketown map. What’s the Easter egg you ask? Why it’s those friendly folks you can’t (and shouldn’t) take your eyes off of, the Weeping Angels.
The Easter egg was discovered recently and posted on Youtube by a few players, such as in the video below which depicts how the Easter egg occurs. If you go around Nuketown and shoot the arms off of every mannequin in the map in less than 2 minutes, they come to life with a thirst for vengeance. Not blatantly so, however. This isn’t Zombie Mode. No, rather like the horrifying Weeping Angels of Doctor Who lore, these fellows only move when you’re not looking at them.
It’s downright creepy. The even have that dead-faced look that reminds of their awful TV show counterparts as they freeze in space on their unflinching journey to you. It was awfully sweet of the Black Ops 3 developers to include a little Red-Light, Green-Light mini-game in one of their maps, only if you lose this one, you’re in for a pretty terrible beat down.
Nuketown is available as DLC content on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
