Carolina-based DMi Games has wrestled with ”more than 1,000 licensed and approved properties” to secure the rights to develop and publish the NASCAR series of games, with a new racer on the way.
NASCAR 2014 was from Eutechnyx. The new license holders over at DMi nabbed the rights as of January 1st. Their NASCAR game is for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2016.
NASCAR is all about racing round a large oval and ‘turning to the left’. This is repeated until everyone’s stuffed plenty pretzels, chugged all the beer, and seen enough flaming tyres hurled from the track, or until someone ‘wins’ the oval race thingy.
”Just to give you some context, a contemporary NASCAR video game has more than 1,000 licensed and approved properties in it. That’s a lot of stakeholders and people to get organized!” said DMi Games.
”We are already hard at work on several new games including an all-new NASCAR racing sim created by DMi for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC that we expect to release in 2016,” continue the studio’s president in an open letter.
