After the Tyranny of Dragons event comes the next major crisis in the Forgotten Realms, and players of MMO Neverwinter will be right in the thick of the action.
Developer Cryptic Studios has announced that the Elemental Evil update, which will coincide and tie in with the next adventure module for the Dungeons and Dragons tabletop game, will be released on March 17.
Elemental Evil will add a new playable class, the Oathbound Paladin, a lawful good (or more accurately lawful stupid) warrior who can focus on either healing or front-line tank combat. The new module will also increase the level cap from 60 to 70, and add a new set of quests, feats and class feature powers.
Rather than angry dragons, this time the heroes of the Realms will be facing off against evil elemental cultists who seek to harness the power of earth, ice, fire and water.
There’s some interesting news for fans of Baldur’s Gate, too – heroic ranger Minsc and his loyal hamster companion Boo will make an appearance in the module’s storyline. “The fan-favorite duo will be assisting players on their journey to discover the true nature of the Elemental Evil cults,” teases Cryptic.
