To commemorate the start of its annual Fanfest celebration, EVE developer CCP gave a keynote address to update fans on the progress of their foray into VR gaming.
Clearly the highlight of the keynote though, was some absolutely incredible VR gameplay footage from EVE: Valkyrie, the company’s space combat spin-off that exists within EVE universe.
Originally revealed at Fanfest 2013, this year’s build looked massively more polished than had what been seen before. Mainly, the presentation centered around an epic single-player mission that was generously stuffed with more dogfights and beautifully exploding ships than you could shake an EVE time card at.
Furthermore, the company took the time to mention that Valkyrie’s primary protagonist, Ran, would have her origins fully fleshed out in a comic book series to be published by Dark Horse later on in the year.
Finally, a pre-Alpha was also announced for EVE: Valkyrie that both Dust and regular EVE Online players can sign up for. Though be warned, numbers will be extremely limited and applicants will need to have a powerful rig and the DK2 version of the Oculus Rift headset if they want to take part.
Don’t worry though, if you don’t have either of those things, you can still treat your eyes to that lovely new EVE: Valkyrie footage below.
