More Need for Speed is on the way after EA has updated the series Facebook page with a teaser for this Thursday. The main page’s banner when brightened showed two cars racing at night, with some pointing to Underground.
Ghost Games is leading the nitrous fuelled charge this time, and has said a return to the Underground offshoot could happen if demand was there amongst fans, and mentioned Frostbite 3 making an appearance if so.
”Ultimately, we need to listen to our consumers,” Marcus Nilsson told VideoGamer.com at Gamescom 2013. ”If people would come to me and say, you know… make Underground 3 with Frostbite 3 with exactly the same features and you’ll go back and sell 15 million copies, then yes, I would build that game. I would. But it’s not that simple.”
The Need for Speed series came alive again with the launch of Underground and its sequel, but then suffered from some not-so-stellar follow-ups before Criterion came along and ‘rebooted’ Hot Pursuit. Then things got better again before eventually leaving the racing franchise.
Need for Speed is expected another instalment in Q4 of 2015.
