Mark Hamill is no stranger to space combat simulations developed by Chris Roberts, as for the longest time, he played Christopher Blair in the Wing Commander series. He was one of the first major Hollywood actors alongside James Earl Jones and John Rhys-Davies to lend their voices to video games.
The actor is now playing “the Old Man”, Lieutenant Commander Steven Colton; the veteran status probably a nod to Hamill’s previous work. Cloud Imperium Games has released a teaser showing off Colton for Squadron 42, which will be the single player campaign in Star Citizen, who mocks, ”Try to keep up!”
Hamill is one of a star-studded cast that also not only includes former co-star Rhys-Davis, but such noted stars like Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, and Andy Serkis. Oldman was featured in his own Squadron 42 trailer earlier this year.
Star Citizen, which recently hit 1,000,000 backers, is due to be released in 2016, which would represent a two year delay from its original 2014 target.
