Cities Skylines was the surprise hit of the year, providing gamers with an alternative to SimCity, which received a lukewarm reception for its own release. The first expansion for the game, After Dark, is now available, and Paradox Interactive has released a new trailer for it.
After Dark provides new challenges for players in planning, maintaining, and expanding their cities. The expansion includes high-rise hotels and other tourist attractions, as well as taxis, and new bus and bike lanes. However, the main focus of the expansion is the dichotomy between day and night,
Players can now have city services be scheduled based on the time of day. For instance, trash pickups can be done at night, while public transit can be slower at night but more frequent during the day. There will also be “nighttime” districts which will have all-night facilities such as nightclubs, bowling alleys, karaoke bars, and so on. Of course, the nighttime also has an increase in crime that needs to be addressed, with new police activity as well as a prison.
Gamers can check out the expansion at the official site here.
