Here, have a new trailer for the increasingly lovely-looking Skywind, the fan-made mod that transports The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind into Skyrim.
Work on the mod continues to chug along nicely, though the mod team over at The Elder Scrolls Renewal Project are still looking for contributors to provide everything from music to voice acting, textures and quest writing.
Right now the team’s 70-strong, but with a project this ambitious they need all the help they can get. Right now they’ve recreated roughly half of Morrowind’s landmass, along with hours of new music, and an impressive ten thousand lines of dialogue. The latest build number, 0.9.6, might seem to indicate that a final version 1.0 is just around the corner, but as the team explains that’s not actually the case.
”Many people are getting excited that this is so close to a 1.0.0 release,” reads the video description for the trailer above. ”This happens with each update video. Please be aware that this project basically started at 9.0.0, so think of this as the 0.6 release. If you look back, 0.9.5 came out all the way back in October. We are working hard as usual, and we don’t want to crush anyone, but I hope this puts things in perspective. These updates are not an accurate measurement of the progress on the project. When a release is nearing, or a beta, we will have more information for you.”
You can find out more about Skywind, and even register your interest for assisting the project if you’re feeling creative, over at the TES Renewal site. Fingers crossed that the project continues on course, even if we have to wait a long time to get out hands on it.
