Another month goes by, and another impressive slice of gameplay footage is released by the Skywind mod team, currently hard at work on their Morrowind-to-Skyrim conversion.
Videos like this are a bit of a nostalgia rush for me - look, there’s the Red Mountain, there’s Azura’s Coast, oh god there’s one of those hideous parastic worms. I’d almost forgotten just how alien and strange the world of Morrowind is. I’d almost wish we’d head back there in the next Elder Scrolls game, but on second thought it’s probably time for something new. Anyway, if Bethesda did decide to revisit, that would kind of undermine the astonishing amount of work put into this mod, wouldn’t it?
“As always, this is early footage and everything is subject to change,” says the team. ”This video shows a tiny fraction of what we have been working on, we mainly just want everyone to know we are still alive and working just as hard without spoiling too much.”
Good to see the team is still chugging away on Skywind. Let’s hope it doesn’t go the way of the diseased mudcrab, as many ambitious mods do, and actually sees the light of day. No word on a release date yet, as there’s still a lot to do.
