It’s been about 3 years since we heard the ugly news that Capcom had no PC plans for fantasy-fiction action RPG, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, announced in correction of a Tweet. Seems Capcom has finally changed its mind. Dragon’s Dogma is being ported over and they’ve got gameplay footage to share.
In Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen you take on the role of a peasant leading a simple life, until the day a dragon attacks, takes your character’s heart and devours it. It is after this your character learns they are the “Arisen”, a special champion destined to challenge the dragon in combat and defeat it for the sake of the world. Along the way you’ll summon warriors from other worlds that will loyally aid you as you gain strength to defeat the dragon.
Dark Arisen has some points that jump out immediately and many of them have to do with the Pawn System. Not only do these lovely minions serve you in battle and grow along with you, but other players in their own worlds can summon your pawn to aid them and you can summon theirs. Pawns will learn as they travel in other players’ realms and bring back knowledge, experience, and secrets that will aid you in the darkest corners of your adventures. It’s awesome sounding mechanic that seems like it would add quite some versatility to online support in the game.
The PC port for Dragon’s Dogma has no official release date yet, but the game is supposedly slated for January 2016. Meanwhile, more videos are supposedly on the way to show off and build more hype for the game.
