Funcom’s recently announced singleplayer horror game The Park, set in the world’s least child-friendly amusement park, is actually related to the developer’s massively multiplayer work.
It’s set in the same universe as The Secret World, the studio’s ‘modern day but with absolutely everything from the last thousand years of our mythology thrown in’ MMO.
Expect some kind of weird, occult, Lovecraftian edge to the game’s “short but intense” horror then, and possibly some hidden easter eggs for Secret World players.
”‘The Park’ is actually the outcome of what started with a small group of developers experimenting with new concepts and looking at how we could draw upon the universes we have built for our massively multiplayer online games and expand upon them into smaller-scale single-player games. Something special started to take shape, and ‘The Park’ ultimately became something we are eager to share with the rest of the world,” says Funcom CEO Rui Casais.
More details will be revealed as we run up to the game’s October launch.
