You know what? You can keep your archers and your boring spearmen, what we really want to see on a Total War battlefield is an insanely ornate magical cannon mounted on a chariot firing fireball spells at the enemy.
Thank the gods for Total War: Warhammer, then, and more specifically the Luminarch of Hysh, just one of the deadly units that the human Empire can bring to bear against the forces of evil. The Creative Assembly has released a brief profile video of this pimped-out death machine.
”The Luminark of Hysh is a magical war machine created by the Wizards of the College of Light Magic,” says the developer. ”Housing a rare, sorcerous orb, it’s capable of casting Solheim’s Bolt of Illumination, a devastating light spell. This bolt is focussed through a series of arcane lenses before leaping across the battlefield to tear the enemy asunder.”
Honestly, if CA can get this right, I don’t think I’ll ever need to play another video game. You’ll be able to check out the Luminarch in action this Friday, when the studio releases the first actual in-game footage from its feverishly anticipated fantasy strategy game, which tragically still lacks an official release date.
