The mods for Colossal Order’s Cities: Skylines continues to impress, as not only are we treated to some handy extra tools and buildings, but modders are getting even more creative with the city builder.
Already there’s a first-person mod to let us zip around at Cim level, but now someone has even greater ambitions with a first-person based multiplayer mod that would let you visit other people’s cities.
It’s early days but creator ‘Fr0sZ’ is already putting out a video to tease his creation. Each player is plopped down as a Cim (avatar) and able to move about. The initial video teaser is promising and shows an instant update on player movement. We’ll have a full RPG and street racer in no time.
Recently a Flight Cimulator mod was released that lets you control one of the planes from an airport, and its creator plans to expand its capabilities - which would include collision. Colossal Order used the Unity engine for Cities: Skylines, which is proving very friendly to mods.
A former Maxis Emeryville artist has even launched a Patreon for developing new models for Cities: Skylines, and so far he’s up to over $770 per building he creates.
