Warhammer 40,000: Regicide, possibly the most violent game of chess you’ll ever play, is about ready to leave Early Access, where it’s been left to simmer for the last four months. It will officially release on August 26.
Regicide will launch with a lengthy 50-mission campaign written by Warhammer 40k author Ross Watson, several new Space Marine and Ork factions, and a bunch of new skills for you to use on the battlefield.
Developer Hammerfall Publishing has just recently released the game’s 1.3 update, which adds the first chapter of the main story, and also tweaks the abilities and equipment of the orks to make them ”more like a mob of animalistic hooligans”. It also adds the Beta version of the Armoury, a persistent XP system for unlocking new skills and perks.
”Finally,” writes Hammerfall, ”we are very excited to announce the first Act of the Campaign where you can finally meet Captain Dracomedes and Librarian Baldassar as they hunt the vile Orks on Hethgar Prime! The first act contains ten lovingly crafted missions that show the Captain’s vicious hunt of the Orks and the Weirdboy Zugtoof.”
