“Korean MMO” seems to be as much of a bona fide genre classification as “Japanese RPG” these days. Well, hey, guess what! You get the chance to try out another new one soon!
While the niche is well-filled, Black Desert Online is trying to differentiate itself by its beautiful visuals and action based combat. You can sign up for the game’s second closed beta starting today, or preorder the final game due to be released on March 3. The game is buy-to-own, Guild Wars-style, with no subscription fees and hopefully limited microtransactions. The base-level preorder is $30.
This second beta will also be the last, running from February 18-22. You can also get down with the lavish, detailed character creator for the inviting price of absolutely free right now, and design your own angelically beautiful or devilishly handsome characters.
Gamewatcher’s own Anthony Shelton was pretty excited about the game in our preview. I don’t personally have room in my life for a new MMO, but the game’s good looks and action-RPG leanings at least have me interested.
