Let me wax nostalgic here for just a minute. If you’re around my age–mid-to-late twenties–you probably remember a time when the divide between real-life and internet life was harsh and complete. Before everyone was on social media, we nerds discussed our nerdy things on online forums. Now everyone’s on the internet, everyone likes nerdy things, and BioWare is shutting down their forums.
The Old Republic forums will continue to operate, but all other public boards will be shut down as of August 26. With presence across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Tumblr, and Reddit, fans don’t really need a dedicated forum to talk to each other, or to get feedback directly to BioWare. End of an era, I suppose.

The official announcement reads “While we are saying goodbye to this venue, we remain committed to our community and will always be here to listen, share, and support you. Online and in person, we will continue to seek out opportunities to interact and share in our combined love of games.”
If you want to look back at your now-embarrassing contributions to the BioWare boards, the forums will continue to exist in read-only form until October 25. After that, well, there are at least a hundred ways to let BioWare know how much you hated the ending of Mass Effect 3.
