Creative Assembly showed off the campaign gameplay for the Empire last time out. Studio communinications manager Al Bickham talks players through the video, providing a look at a campaign played as the industrious but quarrelsome Dwarfs.
One of the new mechanics shown off is the Dammaz Kron, or Great Book of Grudges. When an enemy force takes over a Dwarven outpost - especially if the conqueror is a Greenskin battalion - it creates a Grudge that does one of two things. It gives the player a quest to complete that will grant some sort of reward, and it also increases the discontent in the player’s empire. When Grudges go unfulfilled, the empire gets grumpier and less organized.
The video also touches on the Dwarven tech tree and city advances, as well as showing how some of the legendary items that generals can wield work. For example, there are items that generate terror and unnerve the opposition. Owning a terror artifact negates the effects of other terror artifacts as well.
