I was a Nintendo kid growing up, and I’ll routinely include the Wind Waker in a list of my favorite games ever. So when a game invokes the legend of that cartoonified Zelda, it will have my immediate attention.
Cornerstone is explicitly inspired by that adventure, but adds a hefty dose of crafting and physics-based puzzle-platforming. You’ll be sailing across an open-world ocean, fighting enemies and gathering treasure on every isle. You’ll craft your own weapons and items and explore the world with a variety of vehicles.
I’m always up for a good fantasy action-adventure, and Cornerstone seems to have a good bit going for it. If you’re interested, you’ll probably want to check out the free demo available on Steam. I know I will be!
The game will be officially released on April 26, on PC, Mac, and Linux for $19.99 via your digital distribution service of choice. (Steam and Gog, at the very least.) It first came through Kickstarter way back in 2013 with a little over $30,000, which honestly seems pretty paltry for a game of this type.
