If you're into watching combo meters consistently increase in single-digit increments until the end of time, the MCM demo of Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is probably something you'll get a kick out of. That and all the senseless killing, anyway.
As the masses descended upon the ExCeL exhibition centre in London on a cold Autumn day to get some hands-on time with Guts and his claymore, we need only wait out the brisk weather long enough to have KOEI TECMO deliver the goods straight to our computer screens.
Sure, it may not be a playable demo. The game isn't out for a good few months yet, but the live demonstration from the MCM showfloor gives us nearly 8 minutes of hack n' slash action as the legendary warrior defends Enoch Village from thousands of hungry demons.
Though we don't get to see a fight against one of the game's impressive 'apostle' characters, we do get to see Guts' combo meter continue to climb into triple-digit figures despite being repeatedly slammed into the ground by a rather large ogre. The mighty beast is felled eventually, ending the scenario, and it gave good reason to show off many of the warrior's flashy sword-skills.
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk releases February on Playstation 4, PS Vita and Steam.
