Bethesda has announced that the DOOM reboot finally has a release date. The game will be released for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the 13th May, 2016 - and yes, that date falls on a Friday. The DOOM collector’s edition and the Demon Multiplayer pack pre-order bonus have also been announced, along with a new trailer.
The reboot was developed by id Software, which had been involved with the series since the early 1990’s. DOOM will feature ”relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat – whether you’re obliterating demon hordes through the depths of Hell in the single-player campaign, or competing against your friends in numerous multiplayer modes.”
If that weren’t enough, the game will come with the DOOM SnapMap™ game editor, which promises to allow gamers to easily create their own maps and content, which they can share with the rest of the public.
There will also be a premium collector’s edition, created in conjunction with NYC-based manufacturer TriForce Sales, LLC. The collection’s edition will include a detailed 12” tall Revenant statuette, which was modeled directly from the game’s 3D game files. The statuette will also have an LED-lit base with an internal, slow-spinning turbine from the UAC facility on Mars. The special edition will cost $119.99 (US) / €129.99 (Europe) / £99.99 (UK).
Pre-orders will come with the Demon Multiplayer Pack that contains a unique demon armor set with three skin variations, six metallic paint colors and three id Software logo patterns, which can be applied to weapons and armor. It also comes with a set of six Hack Modules that are one-time consumable items which give an edge in a multiplayer match.
