Indie developer Psyonix has revealed that there will be a special new playlist added to Rocket League, called Rocket Labs. Basically, the new playlist will be a way for the developer to test new, untried maps with the public.
The initial Rocket Labs playlist will include three maps. The first is a retro-style map to the game’s predecessor Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars called Utopia Retro. The map is basically one huge circle with a barrier in the middle. The second map is Underpass, which is a large ovular map featuring high ground elevations on the perimeter, allowing players to enjoy more jumps and other aerial tricks. The third is Double Goal, in which each team has to defend two goals instead of just one.
Meanwhile, the February update will be going as planned, featuring a new Puck ball-type so the game is more hockey than soccer. The competitive playlists will include a new Wasteland map and Snow Day mutator preset. There will also be the Daudmau5 content as well, allowing you to show allegiance to the Canadian DJ’s electronic music.
All of the content will be available for PC and PlayStation 4, while the Xbox One version finally debuts in February. Better late than never.
