Another day, another hack. While maybe DayZ isn’t quite the phenomenon it was a few years ago when it was helping to start the indie survival game gold rush, there may have been a point where you, dear reader, were interested. Interested enough to join the forums!
Well it turns out that joining those forums was a major life mistake. Because they got hacked! Bohemia Interactive emailed forum users explaining the attack, what was stolen, and what they’re doing to prevent future incidents. The breach was first discovered a couple of weeks ago.
The heart of the message is ”While the passwords were not stored in plain text, but in a more secure form, it is highly recommended that if you have used the same password elsewhere you change it immediately on all applicable websites and services. So go change your passwords! And stop using the same couple passwords everywhere, you dolt! (That’s directed at me, not you.)
Bohemia also mentioned that they’re migrating their login system to a more secure service, so hey, maybe that’s comforting. Maybe. Hackers gonna hack, so they say. Or maybe that’s just me.
(Change your passwords.)
